Why do local elections matter?
Local elections, like those for the school board and water district, affect our daily lives – perhaps more than we realize! While so much of our collective attention is focused on national politics, local leaders often make decisions that most directly impact our day-to-day living, like which streets get bike lanes, where new housing can be built, what is taught in schools or how much our water costs.
An educated electorate is vital for a thriving democracy, which is why we are hosting these Two Candidate Forums. Learning more about who is running for office and deciding which candidates align with your values are critical first steps in your participation in elections. So join us, get informed, and vote early this November!

Campus Location
The candidate forum will be held at Harvey Mudd College in Galileo Hall.
Finding Galileo Hall: Galileo Hall is located at the basement level and is not a separate physical building. On the campus map, look for Building #6. Signs will be placed at ground level to guide you to the entrance via a basement-level courtyard and then to Galileo Hall.
Accessibility: Volunteers will be available at the ground-level entrance to assist visitors in finding the elevators and an accessible route to Galileo Hall. If you need assistance, please feel welcome to ask a volunteer.
Parking Information
If you plan to drive to campus, please note the following:
- GPS address: 260 E. Foothill Blvd., Claremont, CA 91711 (Please note that adding the East to the address is critical to get you to the right location, and double-check the city for Claremont.)
- Preferred parking: We encourage parking along Foothill Boulevard between Dartmouth Avenue and Mills Avenue. No parking permit is required in this area.
- Alternative parking: Parking is also available in lots off Foothill Boulevard. Please refer to the campus map for parking locations and accessible parking spaces.
- Accessible parking: Designated accessible parking spaces are available. Please use these spaces only if you are eligible to do so.
- EV charging spaces: Please use EV charging spaces only when actively charging your vehicle and follow all posted parking requirements.
Photo/Video Notice
Photos and video will be taken during the event, and the candidates forum will be recorded. If you prefer not to be photographed or recorded, please let a volunteer or event staff member know. You may also move away from areas where photography or video is taking place.
Photos, video and forum recording may be used for records, promotional materials, or advertising purposes and will remain the property of Harvey Mudd College, the League of Women Voters, and Sustainable Claremont.
