Exciting News for Sustainable Claremont!!

Over the past several months we have been working hard at applying for VERY large grants. We have developed some amazing relationships and partners, and with a huge inflow of federal funds aimed at climate action, we have been swinging for the fences. And it looks like it paid off.
In collaboration with 4 other nonprofits, we applied for more than $20 million in funding to transform the San Gabriel Valley. For our part, it looks like we will be receiving a total of 1.85 million dollars over the next three years. This will fund programs including building rain gardens, planting trees, installing and maintaining native school gardens, and establishing/running school compost programs. What’s more, the program will provide the funding to keep together our amazing team, provide them the opportunity to work 35 hours per week for the 3 years of the program, bake in better compensation, and include an additional 30% on top of their wages to provide fringe benefits. Good for the planet, the community, and the team!
