We see the natural colors of the undeveloped hillsides at the northern edge of Claremont as the usual backdrop to our daily life. Some of us take advantage of the trails for hiking, biking or horseback riding and to refresh ourselves by being surrounded by nature for a while. Many of us appreciate the contribution of these hills to our watershed and to offset the greenhouse gas emissions of daily life. This dialog will reveal the efforts and creativity of individuals working collectively with the City of Claremont to create the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park. It will explore the sources of funding used to add parcels to the park over time and the vision of the Claremont Wildlands Conservancy to create a wilderness corridor that protects nature while allowing access for passive recreation.
